Medical College Baroda is affiliated to, and
is technically the Faculty of Medicine of The
Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara.
The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda conducts
all the university examinations of the Faculty of
Medicine and awards undergraduate, postgraduate and
doctoral degrees.
The Objective of the University
The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda is a
distinct type of University-a teaching and
residential University which has complete
freedom in all academic matters and is free to
institute new branches of studies suited to the
needs and aspirations of the region in particular
and of the country in general.
Structure of the University
His Highness the Maharaja of Baroda is the
Chancellor of the University. The Vice-Chancellor is the principal executive and
academic officer of the University and is to be assisted in his work by Pro-Vice
Chancellor. The Senate is the supreme governing body and authority of the
University and the Syndicate, its executive authority. Among the other
authorities of the University is the council of Post-graduate Studies and
Research which has to deal with all matters relating to instruction, training
and research in the various subjects taught in the University. The other
authorities of the University are the Faculties and the Boards of Studies there
under, which are principally responsible for making recommendations in the
matter of the course of studies, textbooks and generally on academic matters.
The Act deals with the residence of the students and lays down that all students
of the University should reside in the hostels of the University or under
conditions laid down by the relevant Ordinances. Provision has also been made in
the Act for the establishment of a Board of Extra-mural Studies, a students
Welfare Board, a Publications Board and such other Boards as may be prescribed
by the Statutes. Besides the usual Faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce,
Medicine, Technology (including Engineering), Law and Agriculture, the
University is authorized to institute new Faculties of Education and Psychology,
Home Science, Fine Arts and Social Work.
All courses offered by the University have English as the medium of instruction.
However, the courses for specialization in Indian Languages have the respective
language as the medium of instruction.
Rajmata Shubhangini Raje Gaekwad - Honorable Chancellor

Rajmata of Baroda Her Highness
Shubhanginiraje Gaekwad was born on 24th February 1945 and married to Shrimant
Maharaja Ranjitsingh Gaekwad of Baroda, mother of two daughters and a son.She
was graduated with Honours in History, English Literature and Economics, from
Lucknow University in 1964. She is a senator of the Maharaja Sayajirao
University of Baroda since 2012.
She has been engaged with social service organizations, specially connected with
women welfare and their social and economic empowerment. She was the President
of MahilaSahakari Bank (1986-1998) and Co-Chairperson of Family Planning &
Social Welfare Committee, Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry
(1999-2001). She is Trustee of Sir Sayajirao Diamond Jubilee & Memorial Trust,
President and Trustee of Maharani Shantadevi Hospital (winner of National Award
for ‘Child-Friendly Hospital’), Maharani Chimnabai Stree Udyogalaya, President,
Maharaja Fatesingh Museum Trust, Bal Bhavan Society Trust, Swar Vilas (an oldest
organization in Gujarat for promotion of Hindustani Classical Music) among other
appointments.
Rajmata turned her attention to
environmental problems in and around Baroda and actively interested in
sustainable development of which environment protection and improvement is an
integral necessity. She is the President and Chairperson of Greenery Promotion
Committee of Society for Clean Environment (SOCLEEN), Member, Worldwide Fund for
Nature-India.She has the privilege of working with teachers and students, which
strongly advocates universal and free primary education for basic literacy for
adults as well as children, with special emphasis to girl child. She advocates
closer and meaningful ties between industry and education, especially in
Technology and Research & Development.
She has visited many overseas countries,
including USA, Canada, UK, Other European Countries, Middle East Countries and
Far East Countries.

technology. Research interest includes Waste Water Treatment, Solid waste
management, Environmental issues of Industries and Energy recovery by using
Plasma Technology.
Peer reviewer of large number of research papers being published in reputed high
indexed National and International Journals in above mentioned research areas.
Published and presented more than 60 research papers in National and
International Journals and Conferences. Guided number of Ph.D., M.Tech and
B.Tech projects. Also published number of Books and Chapters with National and
International publishers.

Registrar

Dr. K. M. Chudasama - Registrar
Dr. Chudasama has pursued
his master’s in Economics (Econometrics) from The Maharaja Sayajirao University
of Baroda and holds Ph.D. in Economics (Infrastructure Development). He has been
awarded “National Maritime Award 2006-07” by Ministry of Shipping, Government of
India for the best research work on “Economic Impact of Port Development in
Gujarat”. Dr.Chudasama holds the credit to bring the first award of its kind to
Gujarat State for the research in maritime sector, which was well acknowledged
by Government of Gujarat. Dr. Chudasama possess more than 18 years of Teaching,
Research and Administrative Experience. He has published/presented 67 research
papers/articles in various journals/ books /seminar/ conferences of national and
international repute and authored 3 books. He has also been a Chief-Editor of an
Internationally Indexed Journal. Dr.Chudasama has undertaken 8 Research Projects
sponsored and funded by Government of India and Government of Gujarat and
contributed to the preparation of the policy documents for the Government. He
has been MPhil. /Ph.D. Guide and have developed Innovative Pedagogy, Designed
New Curricula and Courses, Developed E-Content Modules for the Courses.
Dr.Chudasama has convened National Conferences and Seminars and has been invited
and delivered Lectures at National and International Conferences / Seminars. He
has been the member of various core committees on Convocation, Collaborations
and New Initiatives. He has also been nominated as expert on various committees
of other Universities/Institutes and Government of Gujarat.
Dr.Chudasama has worked in the capacity of Principal, Dean and Member of
Academic Council & Board of Governors. He has been the Chairman of Board of
Studies and Program Committee. He has been the Coordinator of Admissions, Youth
Festival, Education Trip & Study Visits, NSS Camps & Activities. He has worked
as Chairman of Language Proficiency Testing System, Students & Teachers Alliance
for Research, Students Placement & Career Counselling and Anti-Raging Committee
& Squad.
Dr. Chudasama has been
the Deputy Director-Institute of Leadership & Governance-The Maharaja Sayajirao
University of Baroda. He has worked as Presiding Officer, Polling and Counting
Officer at Students Union Election. He has been the Teacher Supervisor and Gem
Coordinator at Faculty of Arts, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. His
inclination towards academic administration has enabled him to acquire skills
pertaining to Teaching & Evaluation, Research & Publication, Planning and
Implementing and Administration & Liaison.
