ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
It is one of the important and biggest departments of the Medical College & S.S.G.Hospital which provides wide variety of services to the patients coming to this hospital and also prepares the Anesthesiologists of future by imparting education to them.

UG Intake Capacity --Total – 250 SEATS
PG Intake Capacity --Total 17 M.D. SEATS vide letter MCI/23(1)/10(A)/2018-Med/184147 dated 28th February 2019

Services Provided By The Department

• Anaesthesia for all types of routine and emergency surgeries like General surgery, Orthopaedic surgery, ENT surgery, Obstetric & Gynecological surgery, Ophthalmic surgery, Trauma patients care and emergency medical services.
• Superspeciality services for Urology, Pediatric, Plastic and Neurosurgeries.
• Peripheral services for Radio-diagnosis and Radiotherapy, Dentistry & ECT, CT Scan & MRI
• Resuscitation & Ventilatory therapy in various SICU, LRICU and recovery room.
• Resuscitation & Ventilatory therapy during epidemiological outbreak like COVID-19, Swine flu, Leptospirosis, CCHF etc.
• Pain management particularly acute, chronic and post-operative pain relief.
• Attending VIP and VVIP personnel – Duty in ambulance and at Base station both
• Attending peripheral calls in various wards like veinflon cannulation, Ryle’s tube insertion, lumber puncture and endotracheal intubation for resuscitation purpose.
• Services during calamities & Disaster like earthquake, floods, major accident casualties etc
• Services for various camps in the hospital (Leprosy), outside the hospital in villages (Leptospirosis).
• Community health services.
• Training of MO under RCH-II programme – Total 17 Batches
• Institutional & Academic development and maintenance as per NABH norms
• Training of COLS Awareness program conducted to Nurses, Paramedical staff, General public, Teachers, Police officers, Home guards , School students etc
• Training of Fiberoptic Intubation and Management of Difficult Intubation to Anesthesiologists with AIDDA and ISA.

1. CME on “Basic Research and Methodology” conducted at Surya palace Hotel, Vadodara on 10/12/2017. Attended by all faculty.
2. CME on “Mechanical Ventilation” conducted at Piparia Medical College, Vadodara on 25/02/2018. Attended by all faculty & organized by Department of Anesthesia.
3. Dr. Mamta Patel participated as a Panelist for panel discussion on Delayed Recovery from Anesthesia on 26-05-2019 at APA –CME , Vadodara and Dr. Aditi Dhimar and Dr. Darshna Patel attended CME at Isha Hospital, Vadodara
4. Dr. Mamta Patel delivered lecture on Regional Anesthesia and Preeclampsia at Govt Medical College, Nagpur on 7th June 2019.
5. ISACON Gujarat and West Zone 2019 state conference and Workshop, jointly organized by the department of anaesthesia with the practicing anaesthesiologists of the Vadodara city branch and conducted at Hotel Grand Mercure, Vadodara from 11 to 13 October 2019.
6. Dr. Devyani Desai, Dr. Kavita Lalchandani and Dr. Neha Shah participated as faculty in workshop of Upper limb blocks organized by Vadodara city branch in Jan 2020 at Isha Hospital, Vadodara
7. Dr. Swati Bhatt was the judge at National Yuva Conference and panelist at Gujarat State conference in 2020.

9. ISA- Gujarat State Branch organized virtual State Conference on 27th December 2020 hosted by Rajkot city branch. Dr. Swati Bhatt was the judge and panelist.
10. Dr. Swati Bhatt conducted organ donation awareness lecture with role play at Baroda Medical College Auditorium in February 2021. Supported by Dr. Kavita Lalchandani, Dr. Bhavin Barai & Residents of Dept. of Anesthesia.
11. Dr. Swati Bhatt, Dr. Nimisha Brahmbhatt, Dr. Apeksha Patwa, Dr. Afroza Syed and Dr. Komal Modi conducted workshop on Cochlear implant surgery in pediatric patients in 2020.

4. Dr. Mamta Patel, Dr. Neha Jain & Dr. Jalpa Balat took part in ENT Surgery workshop on 3rd & 4th January 2019 at Baroda Medical College as a part of an event of World Congress of Baroda Medical College Alumni Association.

9. All Faculties conducted training programme on Mechanical ventilation in Covid patients. More than 700 health care workers are trained from March 2020 onwards.
